Some of the pictures below might be spoilers if you haven’t yet played the game.
On a whim I decided that I was going to get Journey as it’s a game I’ve heard about, and have heard only good things at that. What a gam! It only lasted for about 2.5 to 3 hours but it was so beautiful! Your mysterious character doesn’t talk but does make musical noises (which you can use to ‘talk’ to any other players) and only really jumps but that’s all that is needed. From the start it is obvious that you need to make your way, or Journey to, to a distant mountain, and as you go along little magical ‘creatures’ – I’m not sure what else to call them, and I think they are made from fabric – help you by mainly adding to your ‘scarf’ which gets longer, providing you more time in flight as you jump. Obviously it is not as simple as going from A to B, but the different ‘levels’ are not too complicated, in fact they are just right…not once did I get lost, or not know what to do within a few moments, which I like. One part was indeed seamlessly beautiful – but I won’t spoil it anymore than I have to.
The other aspect to this game that I only found out recently is that you can play with other players, in a roundabout way. I even made a friend when I played! lol Which really surprised me as I was sure that the chances of playing with anyone else playing at the same time would be slim. We met near the beginning of the game and then just stuck together. Kinda cute really. In fact the game at the end tells you who you interacted with, but during the game itself (as you can see in the pics) there are no names above the characters and you don’t have to talk to each other, you know, in real life. It would have been nice to have played this perhaps when it was more popular to get to play with, or see, more people in game, but I actually think two might be the magic number.
This game does not have photomode, so all these pics are taken during the game by just manipulating the camera as best I can apart from a handful, with the white ghost in for example, that are from the cutscenes (which I state in the description below the picture).
