So, I didn’t post my usual ‘blog post’ post yesterday for various reasons; the main one being that I wasn’t very happy with what I had produced so I thought it would be better to just not post it, this was due to being quite busy on Sunday (for longer than I thought I would be) so I couldn’t spend the time I wanted on the post.
To make up for it I thought I would post the pictures that I took on my first play-through of ‘Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture’ – which has basically become my fav game of the year so far. When I had finished the game, in one sitting which took about four/five hours, I found I had taken just over 200 pictures. After editing out the really bad ones, I ended up with 180 not so bad so my plan is to do three posts (tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday as usual) as a kind of ode to this game that totally blew my mind.
The thing is – I wasn’t expecting it.
I absolutely love this when it happens.
“Deep within the Shropshire countryside, the village of Yaughton stands empty. Toys lie forgotten in the playground, the wind blows quarantine leaflets around the silent churchyard. Down on Appleton’s farm, crops rustle untended, the early harvest abandoned halfway through. The birds lie where they have fallen. A pair of shoes hang from the overhead wires. The windmill continues to turn unobserved. Strange voices haunt the radio waves as uncollected washing hangs listlessly on the line. There is light in the wires. The televisions are tuned to vacant channels. Above it all, the telescopes of the Observatory point out at dead stars and endless darkness. And someone remains behind, to try and unravel the mystery.” The Chinese Room
You start the game near some locked gates, and it becomes pretty clear that you are on your own and that you are not going to be going through the gates anytime soon, and so you follow the road down into the village…
As these pictures were pretty much taken through-out my whole game play, you might find that they will spoil the game, especially the next two posts showing the end of the game. So just to warn you.
Enjoy! More tomorrow!
